2.4M Beneficiares Receiving Rs 10,500 In Sindh: Widening BISP’s Scope

Here is the latest update from the Government of Sindh in which Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, the president of the Pakistan Peoples Party in Sindh, emphasized on Monday the necessity of expanding the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) to cover more families in need, as almost 50% of the province’s population is impoverished.

This will not only cover more people in the Program but also play a vital role in diminishing poverty in the province while Facilitating women’s and Children through its Kafalat and Taleemi Wazaif Programs.

PPP Calls For Widening The Scope Of the BISP Program In Sindh

On Monday Conference, While talking to the media, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro announced to increase in the fold of BISP beneficiaries number in Sindh as he believed that according to the survey, 50% of Sindh’s population is living their life below the poverty line which is one of the most terrifying situation for the province as this can effect the economy of Country.

Therefore to facilitate the people and enroll more applicants in the program, PPP’s president calls for expanding the Benazir registration in Sindh for eligible families so that more people can benefit from the program and receive financial support through the 8171 Ehsaas Program.

2.4M Households Are Receiving Support From BISP

Khuhro, who is also the head of the provincial assembly’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC), stated this at a briefing given by BISP representatives on the situation of the province’s government-run initiative to reduce poverty.

In the PA committee room, Zulfiqar Sheikh, the provincial director general of the BISP, and other program officials gave the briefing. Khuhro was informed during the briefing that 2.4 million worthy families had been registered as BISP beneficiaries, out of the roughly 9.5 million homes in Sindh that have been assessed. Each beneficiary family gets Rs10,500 every three months.

Importance Of 10,500 Quarterly Payment For Eligible People’s Survival

The chairman of the PAC stated that the financial aid provided every quarter is essential to the financial stability of impoverished families, particularly in cases where young people who qualify from these households are unable to work for the government because of court-issued stay orders or temporary bans on new hires because of upcoming elections.

According to him, households can apply to become BISP beneficiaries if their monthly income is less than Rs. 29,000. To relieve congestion at the current facilities, he gave the relevant officials instructions to expand the number of BISP centers around the province.

BISP and STEVTA Join to Provide Vocational Training for Beneficiaries

Additionally, Nisa Ahmed Khuhro highlighted a new agreement between the BISP and the Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority, which aims to offer vocational training to 6,000 male and female students and 36% of BISP recipient women, with support from the Asian Development Bank.

750,000 Beneficaires Receiving Support From Nashonuma Program  

There are already 750,000 enrolled women and babies under the Benazir Nashonuma Program. At the Tehsil level, there are already 138 BISP offices in operation. The BISP also intends to build one-window service centers.

To strengthen the province’s efforts to reduce poverty, Khuhro declared that poor households from Sindh who had been removed from the BISP database during the previous Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf government will be re-instated as beneficiaries following a survey.

New Kafalat Payment Of Rs13,500 Starting From 2025

President Asif Ali Zardari and the Pakistani government have directed the Benazir Income Support Program to raise its quarterly installment by 27% since the program has been given a larger budget this time around for the new installments. In this regard, a new, open banking system would be used to provide all qualified women with Rs 13,500 starting in January 2025.

Through biometric verification, beneficiaries can obtain their 13,500 rupees from any approved ATM without having to wait in a big line or exert themselves.
