August 20 has been designated as a public holiday by the Sindh government in honor of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s yearly Urs. Tuesday will be a holiday, as confirmed by the holiday notification that was sent out.

Schools, Offices, and Other Organizations To Be Remain Closed!
On 20 August, according to the Government’s official announcement, all Public and Private Institutions and Offices will remain closed on Tuesday including all offices, educational institutions, autonomous and semi-autonomous organizations, corporations, and local councils.
Based on the Islamic calendar, 20 August is 14 Safar, and according to this day every year on the 14th of Safar in the Islamic calendar, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai’s prayers will take place over three days.
