3-Months Winter Bijli Sahulat Package

A three-month power relief plan, known as the “Bijli Sahulat” package, has been launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Shari for customers during the winter months when basic utility use is extremely low due to high per-unit costs.

Speaking at an event honoring poet Allama Iqbal on the eve of his birth anniversary, he stated, “The government has decided to provide an electricity relief package on the additional consumption of power for the three months of winter, December, January, and February.”

Up to Rs22 Per Unit Relief for Commercial Consumers

The premier stated that any additional electricity would be provided to household users at a flat fee of Rs 26.07 per unit, adding that “the household consumers will save from Rs11.42 per unit to Rs26 per unit.”

There are various slabs for power users, PM Shehbaz added. Additionally, the industrial sector would save between Rs. 15 and Rs. 5.72 per unit. “Hopefully, the industrial sector will grow faster and people will have more opportunities to earn a living.”

Additionally, the costs for commercial consumers would be reduced from Rs13.46 per unit to Rs22 per unit. “They would save 34% to 47% on incremental electricity usage,” he said, adding that lower electricity costs would benefit businesses, industries, and agriculture as well as contribute to an increase in exports.

18 – 37% Relief For Industrial Sector

The premier said that the industrial sector might reduce electricity rates by as much as 18% to 37%.

Due to changes in September fuel prices, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has reduced power rates by Rs1.28 per unit, the Power Division said via X on Thursday.

In a related step, NEPRA had already authorized a national rise in electricity rates of Rs1.743 per unit for the months of September through November. The goal of this hike is to raise Rs43.23 billion for the distribution firms that were once part of WAPDA.

People Can Use Heating Appliances With No Worries Of High Units

The statement said, “The government is committed to fostering increased industrial and commercial activity as a driver of economic growth.”

The discounted rate for additional winter electricity consumption will also benefit households, making it an appealing alternative to gas for heating and other energy needs.” The Power Division went on to say that it would keep coming up with innovative plans to maximize electricity use and aid in Pakistan’s economic development.
