NA Panel Reviews New BISP Payment System
The introduction of a new payment mechanism was the main topic of discussion on Wednesday by the National Assembly Sub-Committee on Poverty Alleviation about enhancements to the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP). The panel was informed that although banks presently charge the government a 0.4% fee for payments, they may charge up to 1% under the trial project, as long as they provide beneficiaries with full-service facilities.
Insisting that banking representatives be called to the next meeting, the committee convener emphasized the need of hearing from them.
Women must appear in person to complete the survey, according to BISP officials, and their information is safely stored in the database. In order to streamline operations, committee members advised the department to combine local government systems.
