Electricity Relief For Limited Consumers – Update

According to reports using official data, only 14% of the nation’s electricity consumers use more than 200 units of electricity per month. This means that 86% of users only use up to 200 units of electricity per month and are not eligible for this subsidy.

Since the subsidy only targets a small portion of the population, its limited reach raises the question of what effect it will have overall. The government’s initial expectations of widespread relief from rising electricity costs may not be met by the measure.

Conclusion

To implement this, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz dispatched official letters to five major electricity companies, including IESCO, MEPCO, GEPCO, FESCO, and LESCO. However, this relief is limited to a small group, raising concerns about its broader impact on reducing electricity costs.
