According to the Economic Survey 2023–24, during the previous fiscal year, the government disbursed Rs328.96 billion of the Rs466 billion allotted for the 8171 Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) recipients.
Targeting underprivileged women and in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the BISP has its main office in Islamabad and branches out across the country with 16 zonal offices, 154 district offices, and 257 sub-divisional offices.
According to the survey documents, 9.4 million recipients received payments of Rs257.47 billion under the Kafalat Unconditional Cash Transfer Program and Rs55.97 billion under the Conditional Cash Transfer Program.
