Here is the latest Update for all the farmers in Punjab the government has announced to initiation of a new project for farmers that will focus on increasing the production of the two most important crops that are Tomatoes and Onions so that they can be available throughout the year. 

پنجاب کے تمام کسانوں کے لیے یہ تازہ ترین اپ ڈیٹ ہے حکومت نے کسانوں کے لیے ایک نیا پروجیکٹ شروع کرنے کا اعلان کیا ہے جس میں دو اہم ترین فصلوں یعنی ٹماٹر اور پیاز کی پیداوار بڑھانے پر توجہ دی جائے گی تاکہ یہ سال بھر دستیاب رہ سکیں۔ . اس سلسلے میں پنجاب حکومت نے ساڑھے چار سو کسانوں پر مشتمل 33 فارمر انٹرپرائز گروپس بنانے اور پیاز اور ٹماٹر کی فصلوں کے نیچے مجموعی طور پر ستر ہزار پانچ سو ایکڑ اراضی کو موسمی اور غیر فصلوں کے لیے لانے کے لیے 6 ارب روپے کا منصوبہ شروع کیا ہے۔ موسم کی بوائی. پانچ سے دس کسانوں کے گروپ جو سبزیاں اگاتے ہیں انہیں سولرائزیشن، ڈرپ اریگیشن، کھاد اور بیجوں کے لیے سبسڈی ملے گی۔ کوئی مصنوعی پیداوار نہیں ہوگی کیونکہ پنجاب میں پیاز اور ٹماٹر آف سیزن کی وجہ سے چھ ماہ تک مقامی طور پر دستیاب ہوں گے۔

In this regard, the Punjab government has started a project worth Rs 6 billion to create 33 farmer enterprise groups made up of 450 farmers and bring 17,500 acres of land under onion and tomato crops overall, both for seasonal and off-season sowing.

Groups of 5 to 10 farmers that grow vegetables will receive subsidies for solarization, drip irrigation, fertilizers, and seeds. There won’t be any artificial production because onions and tomatoes will be available locally in Punjab for six months due to off-season growing.

17,500 Acres of Land Distribution For Seasonal & Off-Season Crops

The Government of Punjab will break the lands into seasonal and off-seasonal cultivation of both the crops, Tomatoes and Onions separately so that their yield can look accordingly and the cultivation can be done with a maximum Profit.

Seasonal & Off-Seasonal Cultivation Of Onions

The distribution of the land indicates that 2500 acres will be brought under non-seasonal cultivation in Vehari, Khanewal, and Rahim Yar Khan districts, and 9,000 acres will be brought for seasonal onion production in Lodhran, Multan, and Rajanpur districts.

Seasonal & Off-Seasonal Cultivation Of Tomatoes

Similarly, 2500 acres of land will be used for non-seasonal tomato planting in Khushab, Chakwal, Rawalpindi, Jhelum, and DG Khan, and 3500 acres will be used for the seasonal cultivation of tomato crops in Muzaffargarh, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sheikhupura districts.

Additional Aids Will Be Provided To The Farmers 

The initiative has been supported by the World Bank, which will also supply cold storage, machinery, agricultural equipment, nursery plants, and seeds for tomatoes and onions.

According to sources in the province’s agricultural department, the strategy was developed following Punjab’s chief minister, Maryam Nawaz, to guarantee that customers will always have access to high-quality veggies at reasonable costs. Additionally, the senior individuals in attendance guarantee that growers will receive all the assistance necessary to meet the project’s objectives.

In her speech, Kirmani said that farmers will receive subsidies for solar systems and contemporary farm equipment to increase the amount of potatoes and onions that are grown both seasonally and year-round.

Punjab To Introduced Farmers Field School

The provincial minister stated that although technical training for the Farmer Enterprise Group will be arranged through quality improvement, climate-smart agriculture practices, regenerative agriculture, and post-harvest techniques, farmer capacity building will be carried out through Farmer Field School.

Overall Predicted Production Of Onions and Tomatoes

The Punjab Agriculture Secretary stated that this initiative will result in a 28,500-ton rise in the seasonal and non-seasonal output of onions and a 39,000-ton increase in the seasonal and non-seasonal production of tomatoes.
