Maryam Nawaz Commands To Boost Scholarships from 4,000 to 25,000

During a meeting chaired by the Cheif Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz, in Lahore, about the Punjab Scholarship Schemes for the student, she not only approved the Honahar Merit Scholarship Scheme for the students but also commanded the authorities to increase the number of Students from 4000 to 25,000.

In this way, more children can apply for the free Education scheme through the Punjab Honahar Merit Scholarship Program.

100% Free University Scholarships Available for Punjab Students

In this meeting, Maryam Nawaz also decided to provide scholarships to the students who have done their BS, The chief minister announced on Saturday, during a special meeting of the Higher Education Department, that the scholarship will cover all of the tuition costs for students pursuing a bachelor’s degree at 8 private universities and government universities. 

Maryam Advocates Private Sector Support to Expand Higher Education in Remote Areas

Maryam emphasized the importance of supporting the private sector to promote higher education. She stated that private sector participation would offer youth in remote areas more opportunities for higher education. 

The CM ordered the immediate establishment of new universities in Jhelum, Vehari, and Bahawalnagar. She reviewed recommendations for establishing universities through public-private partnerships and agreed to facilitate the private sector in this initiative.

Relaunch Of Prime Minister Laptop Scheme For Students

She also gave the instructions to start the laptop scheme right away. The government will start buying laptops to give to students in the next fiscal year. An additional Rs69.74 billion has been allocated by the provincial government for educational purposes.

CM Praises Successful Free MD CAT and E CAT Classes, Calls for Expansion to Remote Areas

The chief minister expressed pleasure over the successful implementation of free MD CAT and E CAT classes in 90 colleges across Punjab. She stated, “The scope of free MD CAT and E CAT classes in colleges should be gradually expanded for students from remote areas.” She appreciated the performance of Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and the Higher Education Department.

Earlier, Secretary of Higher Education Dr. Farrukh Naveed provided a detailed briefing during the meeting. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb and Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat attended the meeting. The Chief Secretary, Chairman of P&D, Finance Secretary, Principal Secretary to CM, and other concerned officers were also present.
