Punjab’s 7th Agri Census Has Been Launched: 2025 Update!
The 7th Agricultural Census has been launched across Punjab. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has ordered an organized agricultural census, which is a big initiative to improve the farmers of Pakistan. It has been taken by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, which will collect the necessary information to understand the country’s agricultural scenario.

This will open the way for food security policies and the welfare of farmers. The Integrated Digital Count Census initiative has been launched in many cities across the country and a nation-wide 7,686 enumerators are selected to collect agricultural data.
Initiation Of Country’s 7th Agricultural Census By (PBS):
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics PBS has begun field operations for the country’s 7th Agricultural Census. The Integrated Digital Count Initiative was launched during an event in Islamabad by PBS on Wednesday, 1st January 2025.
This operation is necessary so that data can be collected for the improvement of the country’s agriculture and policies can be made for farming and food security. This census will prove to be very beneficial and fruitful for farmers and food policies across the country.
This time, this census has been conducted through a digital tool through which the census method can be made easy, effective, accurate, and efficient. This census will help in government decision-making, will help in better allocation of resources,c, and es, and will also improve the productivity of Pakistan’s infrastructure sector.
This census has been launched in collaboration with the provincial and federal government, academia, and other departments, to provide detailed insight into the country’s agricultural sector.

This agricultural census has been conducted in many cities, not only in Punjab but within the cities Sindh, Peshawar, Bajo and Kashmir, Lahore, and Dadu.
(PBS) Has Trained 7,686 Expert Enumerators
The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has trained 7,686 expert enumerators across the country to execute the census properly. This is very important and they will provide detailed and reliable data, which will facilitate agricultural monitoring operations.
In Karachi, 1649 enumerators are enlisted, and in Peshawar 62. In Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), 297 enumerators and supervisors had been trained to collect data digitally. While more supervisors have been listed in different cities of Pakistan.

Distribution Of Tablet To Trained Enumeraters
Under the Digital Census Initiative, PBS has also distributed tablets to train enumerators. Real-time data collection will be done through the use of these tablets, which will make the process more efficient and more reliable. This introduction of technology will make data collection more accurate and reliable.
Pakistan Bureau of Statistics’s Director Muhammad Sohaib highlighted that digital tools will be used for the objective of the census, and GIS technology and other advanced methods will be integrated into the fields so that everything can be examined properly.
Integrated Digital Census Will Hold For 40 Days
The data collection process of the Agricultural Census will also last for 40 days, during which time the evaluators will visit farms and farming areas and collect data. These censuses have been extended for a period from January 1 to 10th February. The time period of this census has been extended so much so that completely comprehensive data can be received.
Significance Of Census For Agricultural Food Policies And Farmer’s Welfare
The result will be very grateful for both agricultural policies and farmers’ welfare. All the practices of information through science shed light on crop yields and farm conditions. Due to this data, the government will be able to make quality policies that will help farmers so that they can grow better crops and it will also help farmers.
Minister Emphasised Agriculture As The Backbone Of Country’s Economy
Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal said during an event in Islamabad that agriculture is the backbone of the country’s economy, which plays an important role in GDP, exports, and employment.
He stressed on making data collection efficient through GIS technology. This census will also play an important role in targeted support for the community and strengthening the country’s agriculture.
Its final result has been announced to be published by August 25. The Minister also said that all the data obtained from this census will help in making important food policies that will address challenges such as the best use of water and management of crops, cropping patterns, and food security.
He repeatedly made it clear during his announcement that the federal government is committed to providing farmers with the necessary resources and support for stable growth.
Centralized GIS Technology For Accurate Monitoring
The Minister highly appreciated the modern centralized GIS technology monitoring system and the real-time data being used for reporting means that data can be collected and analyzed in real-time. This will make data collection easier and better, allowing targeted interventions at the right time. This idea can be allocated to the right place such as water, land, and other funding.
He further said that Pakistan’s population growth rate has increased from 2.4 percent to 2.55 percent. If the growth rate continues at the same rate, 380 million people will increase in our population, and by 2047, our country’s population will exceed 240 million.
That is why he said that this has been organized to gather agricultural data for food security by 2047 because if the agricultural strategies are not developed, it will be very harmful and will result in drought. That is why the Planning Ministry is giving great importance to this accurate data collection initiative.
PBS Has Established 34 Regional And 125 District Offices
PBS has offices in the province including 34 regional offices and 125 district offices. These offices will support the enumerators to design and monitor data.
