Subsidies For BISP 20M Beneficiaries Through Their Electricity Bills

Here is the latest Update for all the Benazir Program’s beneficiaries that the government of Pakistan has announced to provide the subsidies to all the eligible Beneficaires of BISP program through their electricity Bills. Therefore soon a meeting will be arranged between K-Electric and BISP to discuss all the important issues for how to transfer a bulk of data for the eligible households. 

Subsidies To The BISP Recipients For High Electricity Bills

As the discussions have been going on for providing financial relief to all the eligible Beneficiaries, BISP is now taking notice so that they can implement the strategy as soon as possible.

The MPA&SS states that subsidies may be immediately provided to Benazir Income Support Fund beneficiaries through their electricity bills following the Prime Minister’s directives. The power utility firm responded that the request should be sent through the Power Division when the BISP asked K-Electric to set up a meeting to talk about and create a plan for bulk data exchange.

BISP And K-Electric Collaboration For Providing Subsidies 

The BISP asked the Power Division to instruct K-Electric to work together to carry out the Prime Minister’s directive.

The strategy calls for BISP to provide PITC with the data of Rs 5 million BISP beneficiaries to reconcile them. Once the Power Division and Finance Division agree, subsidies may be immediately provided to qualified recipients through their electricity bills following data validation by the Power Information Technology Company (PITC).

Subsidies To Be Transfer Directly Via E-vouchers

E-vouchers will be used by the Ministry of Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety (MPA&SS) to directly provide subsidies to protected domestic electricity users.

According to KE, all subsidies are given to KE and its customers and are carried out by orders from the Pakistani government’s Finance and Power Divisions. As a result, KE contended that PD and FD should also be used to route the data-sharing directive.

E-Vouchers To Be Send To Consumers Via Several Bank Branches

According to the official news, it has been stated that the BISP will be responsible for sharing its data with the Power companies along with Beneficiaries phone numbers, therefore it has to be done with high monitoring.

The BISP will give data based on PMT scores to the Power Division. Then, the Power Division or electricity companies (Discos) will send E-vouchers to consumers through their registered mobile numbers, which will be verified by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA). The State Bank of Pakistan will involve all banks to create a system where these E-vouchers can be used to pay electricity bills.

How The Subsidies Will Be Given To Beneficiaries: Step-By-Step Guide

Here are the simple ways for beneficiaries to learn the whole procedure from collecting the E-vouchers to receiving their subsidies from Power Companies:

1. Issuing E-vouchers: The government will use the PMT system to identify 20 million families with electricity connections, and the Power Division or electricity companies (DISCOs) will issue E-vouchers.
2. Using E-vouchers: These families will take their electricity bills and E-vouchers to bill collection points, such as banks or financial institutions, within the area covered by their DISCO.
3. Verification: The system will verify the subsidy at the bill collection points by checking the meter reference number and CNIC (ID number). This will automatically update the system with the data.
4. Automated Matching: The Power Division’s system will automatically compare electricity usage with the BISP PMT data, removing families who do not qualify based on their electricity consumption.
5. Recovery for Non-Deserving: If a family is found to be ineligible for the subsidy, the amount they owe will be adjusted in their future bills.
6. Appeals Process: Families who believe they deserve the subsidy but were not included can visit NSER desks to register and update their details for future E-vouchers.
