Suthra Punjab App To Be Launched: Latest Announcement By CM!
On November 29, 2024, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz announced the launch of the Solid Waste Management Punjab Suthra program to create a clean city, mohallas, and environment in the province.
According to CM Punjab, it was decided to launch Maryam’s Suthra Punjab program on December 3. Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafique officially launched the program across Punjab on December 3 during a meeting held at the LWMC office.

Suthra Punjab Has Been Launched On 3rd Dec:
Zeeshan Rafique officially launched The Punjab Suthra program on Tuesday, Dec 3, 2024. Under this program, a proper sanitation system will also be started in villages and cities, for which safe dumping at least one in each tehsil and door-to-door waste collection models have also been prepared.
Maryam Nawaz Sharif also mentioned in the 29 November meeting the creation of a zero-waste management mission across Punjab in three months.
According to Zeeshan Rafique, this edition will prove to be a turning point. He also said that this public-private partnership project is a pride for him. All the practices will be done through very strict monitoring and no negligence will be tolerated.

110 Tehsils Out Of 149 Are Outsourced
Further said that to run this program, a mission has been set to outsource 149 tehsils in Punjab, out of which 110 have been outsourced for tehsil waste management. They have launched their Online Suthra Punjab App which will enable people to record their comments and grievances in addition to assisting them in accessing various cleaning procedures.
This decision has been made to make sanitation work efficient and to standardize the operations technically so that the sanitation system can be ensured equally in both rural and urban areas.
He also added that the CEOs, LG Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners of waste management companies have worked very hard to make this campaign active. He also said that 60,000 tons of waste is produced in Punjab every day, but due to lack of facilities and lack of proper management, it is not collected and remains lying in the streets and alleys.
Aim To Provide 100,000 Jobs Under Suthra Programme
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also disclosed to provide 100,000 job opportunities, out of which 88,000 jobs have been provided to the people and the remaining vacancies will be provided to the people soon. Maryam Nawaz Sharif also said that we are working day and night so that we can improve the lives of the people and make them better.

Further, she emphasizes that the use of plastic should be limited as much as possible because it produces a large population and damages the environment.
83,000 Machines And 25,000 Vehicles will Be Allotted
For this major cleanliness management project, the representatives will sanction 21,000 plus cleaning machines, and 83,000 cleaning pieces of equipment that will be used by the working employees in cleaning and collecting waste.
Around 25,000 garbage collection vehicles will also be provided, which will speed up and increase efficiency in waste collection. Through all these resources, the Suthra Punjab management program will be able to run in a proper well-managed manner.
Trackers will be inserted into the vehicles, through which the sanitation and sweeping work will be monitored. A six-member committee will be appointed in each tehsil and district, which will assist the monitoring system.
1.5 Million Houses Will Be Clean In Lahore
At the inauguration ceremony of the Clean Punjab Program, Zeeshan Rafique also added that the Maryam Nawaz Suthra Punjab Program will cover 1.5 million houses in Lahore. Garbage will be collected door-to-door from people’s homes. In addition, cleanliness and training drainage operations will be included in 500 central markets of Lahore and 400 villages will be also added.
She also said that just as daughters keep their homes clean, the daughters of Punjab will keep Punjab clean. Instead of throwing garbage on open roads and outside houses, regular dumping sites should be made where people can throw garbage.
During the meeting, CM also appreciated the cleanliness performance in Murree.
540 Workers Will Be Hired For Cleanliness In Lahore
At least 540 workers will be hired to carry out sanitation work in Lahore, along with 10 loader rickshaws will be also provided in each tehsil. These hired workers will be responsible for cleaning public spaces, markets, and streets.
Maryam Nawaz said that cleanliness is half of faith and that the people who clean are not small but very great people.
Rural Areas First Time To Be Included In Suthra Program
Zeeshan Rafique has also ensured that under this program, cleanliness should be taken equally in villages. In many programs, the government neglects rural areas, but Maryam Nawaz Sharif has issued an order to keep both rural areas and urban areas equal in the Punjab Suthra program.
Local Minister Zeeshan Rafique has also said that it is the first responsibility of every elected representative of each area to complete the work of sweeping and drainage sanitation with equality.
Strict Monitoring Will Be Implemented Under AI And Tracking
Rafiq Sahib also added that Artificial Intelligence monitoring Systems will be established in every district and tehsil so that the transmission of waste management and accountability can be ensured properly.
In the end, he added that CM Punjab has also launched the Punjab Suthra app and 1139 helpline for the public, through which they can share their feedback.
